How to use a French CV example

A good example answers the questions that stall you: how many lines for the accroche, what goes under each role, how to present a first job. Read the example matching your situation and study its mechanics before its content — the mechanics are what you reuse.

Never reuse the phrasing verbatim: recruiters recognise examples found online, and your own experience will always be more credible. What you take is the bullet pattern — action verb, task, figure. Then replace every fact with your own.

What changes with your situation

  • First job Education comes before experience. Internships, summer jobs, apprenticeships (alternance) and student projects are written up like real roles, with results to back them. The accroche stresses availability and already-proven skills.
  • Experienced profile Experience occupies most of the page; education shrinks to one or two lines. Two pages become acceptable if every recent role contributes quantified achievements.
  • Career change The accroche bridges old and new professions; transferable skills move up. Recent training and certifications come before the older experience.

The traps

Mistakes these examples avoid

  • 'Dynamic and motivated' Self-assessment without proof: no recruiter stops for it. Every claimed quality must be demonstrated by a situation or a number in the experience section.
  • Duties without results Describing what the job required instead of what you delivered. The recruiter knows the job description; your contribution is what interests them.
  • Approximate dates '2019 – today' without a month casts doubt. Month/year precision is the French standard and protects your credibility.
  • Boilerplate interests 'Reading, cinema, travel' says nothing. A club sport, a documented passion, an association commitment — or leave the section out.

Can I copy these examples?

The structure, yes — it is a convention, not a creation. The sentences, no: they must tell your story. Recruiters spot copied internet examples, and your own numbers will always be stronger than ours.

Should internships count as experience?

Yes, early on: a multi-month internship is written exactly like a job (dates, duties, results). It fades in importance over the years and eventually leaves the CV.

What order should the sections follow?

Reverse-chronological for experience, always. Education goes first for a first job, after experience otherwise. Skills and languages close the CV.

Is there one universal example for every profession?

No — distrust sites that claim otherwise. The pattern stays stable (title, accroche, quantified experience), but an accountant's CV and a nurse's CV showcase neither the same evidence nor the same vocabulary.
