Business Analyst Resume Templates

Business analysis CVs are read for evidence that you turned a messy problem into something a delivery team could build — and that the thing that shipped actually changed a number. "Gathered requirements" is a task; "cut the scope of a £1.2 million change by 18% after process mapping" is a result.

These business analyst resume templates keep a conservative corporate hierarchy, with room for methods (BPMN, user stories, workshops) and for the systems you have actually analysed.

What to look for in a Business Analyst resume template

The right template for this field is the one that puts the evidence a business analyst screen checks first in a document a parser can still read. Style is secondary.

  • A methods line that can hold elicitation, modelling and the delivery framework the advert names.
  • Experience rows with space for process, system, stakeholder seniority and the outcome of the change.
  • A tools line for Jira, Confluence, Visio, SQL — written as literals.
  • A tone that works in both IT change and operational improvement, because BA vacancies sit in both.

Match the market

How to choose a Business Analyst resume template

  • Heritage Classic, Corporate Clean and Professional Slate are the default for most BA seats — they look like the rest of a corporate shortlist.
  • Consultant Strategy and Management Consultant suit transformation and strategy-adjacent analysis.
  • Zenith Split and Compact Dense work when the vacancy is closer to product or data analysis.

What belongs on the page

What to include in a Business Analyst resume

The problem and the artefact

Process map, user stories, as-is/to-be, business case. Name what you produced, then what changed after it was used.

Systems you have analysed

ERP, CRM, claims, billing — the domain nouns in the advert. "Enterprise systems" will not match those searches.

Stakeholder seniority

Who you facilitated and who signed off. A BA who has briefed a steering group is a different hire from one who has only written tickets.

SQL, only if true

Many BA roles now expect it. "Writes SQL for data profiling" is useful; inflating it is easy to catch in a take-home.

How to create your Business Analyst resume

  1. Pick a corporate or consulting layout

BA hiring is rarely a place to experiment with a creative CV.

  2. Lead skills with methods, then tools, then domain

Match the order the advert uses. Agile BA vacancies want user stories high; operational roles want process mapping high.

  3. Give each role a change and a number

Cycle time, defect rate, cost avoided, adoption. If you cannot, compress the role.

  4. Export and check system names survived

Then send. Link a portfolio of anonymised artefacts only if the process asks for one.

Questions

FAQ

Do business analyst resume templates need a portfolio of artefacts?

Usually no on the CV itself. If a process asks for examples, link two anonymised artefacts and describe the constraint, not the client's confidential process.

Should I list every workshop technique I know?

List the ones you can facilitate unaided and any the advert names. A catalogue of twenty facilitation labels reads as a course list.

Is a BA template different from a data analyst template?

Yes in emphasis. Data analyst pages on this site lead with SQL and BI platforms; these BA templates lead with requirements, process and change outcomes. A hybrid vacancy can draw from both lists.

Where do IIBA or BCS diplomas go?

In a short certifications block, with the level and year. They are useful filters in some markets and ignored in others — match the advert.
