How to Write a Polish CV (Jak Napisać CV) Step by Step

Polish CVs have one detail that still trips up even experienced candidates: the RODO consent clause. This guide covers the full structure Polish recruiters expect — plus photos, dates and the achievements that actually get read.

The structure Polish recruiters expect

Polish recruitment has modernised fast — ATS filters and one-page expectations arrived with it. Reverse-chronological order on one to two A4 pages is the working standard across agencies and employers.

  • Dane osobowe Name, phone, professional email, city, optionally LinkedIn. Date of birth, marital status and a full street address are disappearing from modern Polish CVs — and employers must not require them.
  • Podsumowanie zawodowe The professional summary: two to four lines under your name stating role, seniority, sector and one quantified result. It has replaced the old 'cel zawodowy' (career objective) in better applications.
  • Doświadczenie zawodowe Job title, employer, city, dates with month and year, three to five bullets per role. Polish recruiters respond to the same evidence pattern as everywhere: action verb, task, measurable outcome.
  • Wykształcenie Highest qualification first: degree with level (magister, licencjat, inżynier — the Polish engineering title matters to recruiters), institution, years. Courses and certifications worth mentioning form a separate block.
  • Umiejętności i języki Six to ten skills mirroring the job posting's vocabulary; languages with honest levels — in Poland, an official certificate or a CEFR grade beats 'communicative English' every time.
  • Klauzula RODO The consent clause closing the document — in Polish processes still a practical necessity (details below).

The legal line

The RODO clause: what to write and why

RODO is the Polish name for the GDPR. Under it, an employer may process your application data only for a purpose you consented to — which is why Polish recruitment settled on a standard consent sentence at the foot of the CV.

A safe current wording is: 'I consent to the processing of my personal data for the purpose of this recruitment process in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).' Two practical points: if you want to stay in the employer's pool for future processes, that requires a separate sentence explicitly covering future recruitment — and if the posting quotes its own clause, copy it verbatim, because some HR portals filter for it literally.

The photo question

Photos and personal details in Poland

The photo is the most debated Polish CV element. It was long near-mandatory; today the market is split. International corporations and tech companies in Poland are largely photo-free, and recruitment-quality reports show bias concerns pushing more employers that way. Traditional local firms and some agencies still expect one.

The working rule: for corporations and tech, skip the photo; for local SMEs, a professional headshot on a neutral background is still an asset. Either way, a casual photo is worse than none. The same minimalism applies to birth date and address: include only what a specific process asks for.

The content

Achievements Polish recruiters actually read

The most common weakness of Polish CVs is the obowiązki list — duties copied from the old job description. 'Obsługa klienta' (customer service) names a desk; 'handled 60 customer cases a day and kept satisfaction above 95%' names a person doing it well.

Quantify with whatever your role gives you: cases, orders, students, złoty, percentages, deadlines met. And mirror the advert's vocabulary — Polish ATS and agency filters (Pracuj.pl, Aplikuj.pl, corporate systems) rank literal matches highest.

Practical example

Podsumowanie zawodowe: before / after

The same candidate expressed two ways — one generic, one shortlistable.

Professional summary (customer service) — before / after

3 lines that decide the shortlist

BEFORE: I am a communicative, hard-working person with experience in customer service, looking for a job where I can develop and gain new skills. AFTER: Customer service specialist with 4 years in telecoms. Resolved 60 cases daily, keeping CSAT above 95%, and trained 6 new consultants on the retention script. Looking for a team-lead role in a service centre.

'After' could be verified in one phone call — volumes, a score, a training record. That is the difference between a summary and a wish.

FAQ

Polish CV questions

Is the RODO clause required on every CV?

In practice, yes — most Polish recruiters will not process an application without data-processing consent. If you also want to be considered for future vacancies, add a second sentence explicitly consenting to future recruitment processes.

Should I add a photo to my Polish CV?

It depends on the employer: local SMEs often still expect a professional photo, while international corporations and tech firms increasingly prefer photo-free CVs. Read the posting and sector; never use a casual picture.

How long should a Polish CV be?

One page is the strong norm for juniors and most specialists; two pages for managers and experts with 10+ years. Polish recruiters skim — selection beats completeness.

Do I include my date of birth and address?

Only if a specific process asks for them. Modern Polish CVs increasingly list just the city; employers may not legally require personal details beyond what recruitment genuinely needs.
